Inauguration of “ROAD SAFETY CLUB @ SAHYADRI”



Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management in association with All India Federation of Motor Vehicles Department Technical Executive Officers Association (AIFMVD) has come up with new initiative to create awareness about the road safety by forming “ROAD SAFETY CLUB @ SAHYADRI” and inaugurated on 12.02.2022, Saturday at 10.00am.

The main objective of the club is to promote road safety with the aim of minimization of road-travel related fatalities and injuries. Also encourage the students to discard non-standard helmets and procure ISI Standard – safe helmets and be safe and secure.

Dr.Rajesha S, Principal gave a Inaugural remarks as the road safety is the major concern in day to day life as each one of has to travel for the one or other purpose. He appreciated the club members and AIFMVD for the new initiative in the camps.

Mr. Ashfaq Ahamed, President, All India Federation of Motor Vehicles Department Technical Executive Officers Association inaugurated the ““ROAD SAFETY CLUB”. In his inaugural address he mentioned about Road safety and its paramount importance. Also mentioned that, a lot of precious lives are lost every day due to negligence on the part of road users. A little bit of training and exposure to safety measures will go a long way in protecting their lives. Hence the Club at Sahyadri All India Federation of Motor Vehicles Department’s endeavor to impart that training to as many people as we possibly can and contribute our bit in making Indian roads safer and saving lives thereby - and working towards achieving ZERO fatality.

Mr. Veer, founding partners in Train2Pro Training and Consulting Services LLP, Technology and Execution Partner of AIFMVD gave an overview on road safety measures, briefed about various activities to be conducted under the club, expected outcome of the club, contribution of each individual on road safety and roll out plan for the effective execution.

Prof. S.S. Balakrishna, Vice Principal, appreciated the Federation for the new initiative which will be helpful for the new generation on the safety concerns.

Dr.Nalini Elizabeth Rebello, Dean Academics, Prof. Rathischandra R. Gatti, Head of Mechanical Department, Prof. Mallesh, Prof.Sharthchandra, Prof. Partheek, Prof. Sagar Attavar Faculty coordinators from various department were present. More than 360 students were part of this inaugural awareness program.

Hands-on Research paper Boot camp using Mendeley by Department of Mechanical Engineering The department of mechanical engineering, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management  conducted "Hands-on  Research paper Boot camp using Mendeley '' for final year mechanical students on 11th Dec 2021, 8:30 AM to 1:00PM at CIM lab. The objective of this workshop was to make students conduct and disseminate their innovative research using publications as the tool. Mechanical Engineering students Win 1 st and 2 nd place in “Incredia 2022” held at NMAM Institute of Technology Mohammed Zain, Nestor Noronha and Abhinav Thodthillaya, students from 6 th Semester and Salvin Pinto, G Vijeth, Vineeth Pais from 8 th Semester Mechanical Engineering have participated in “Engine Overhaul" an event held at Incredia 2022 a National Level Techno- Cultural Fest of NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte and won 1st and 2nd Places respectively for which they received Certificates and a Cash Prize. The event consisted of three rounds. Round 1: Involves a written test that will test your knowledge of automobiles.  Round 2: Identifying the parts of the engine and explaining their function.  Final Round: Involves fixing an already overhauled engine. Teams will have to assemble the engine with the smallest number of errors in the least amount of time.

Dept. of Mechanical Engineering Students visited Lamina Foundry Limited, NITTE. The students of 3 rd Semester Mechanical Engineering program visited Lamina Foundries Limited. The visit enabled the students to gain fundamentals of casting techniques like melting, pattern making, core making, casting, machining, quality, painting and packaging and also helped them to understand industrial practices.
