Dept. of Mechanical Engineering Students visited Lamina Foundry Limited, NITTE.
The
students of 3rd Semester Mechanical Engineering program visited Lamina
Foundries Limited. The visit enabled the students to gain fundamentals of
casting techniques like melting, pattern making, core making, casting,
machining, quality, painting and packaging and also helped them to understand
industrial practices. The students were accompanied by Mr. Suhas, Dr.
Shankaramurthy and Mr. Sai Charan, Asst. Professors, Dept. of Mechanical
Engineering.
About the company:
Lamina Foundry Limited
is a public limited company belonging to Lamina group of Companies,
commissioned in the year 1983. Initially the company was producing cast iron
castings such as motor bodies, flywheels, valve bodies etc. to cater to the
needs of domestic customers. The company has entered into the export market
since 1990 by exporting machined Brake Drums to Germany. The main reason behind
this- was to allow student to know things practically through interaction,
